Notes
Mac ‘N Cheese Waffles turn a familiar boxed macaroni and cheese into a crisp, waffle-shaped dish that works for lunch, dinner, or snacks. Prepared macaroni is mixed with the cheese sauce, shredded cheddar, egg, bread crumbs, butter, and milk, then cooked in a waffle iron until golden on the outside. The waffle format makes the dish easy to portion and serve without changing the core ingredients.
This recipe works because the egg and bread crumbs help bind the macaroni together, allowing it to hold its shape in the waffle iron. Extra shredded cheddar melts into the mixture and crisps slightly against the hot iron, adding texture and flavor. Cooking the macaroni until just al dente prevents it from becoming too soft once pressed and cooked again.
This is a practical way to repurpose mac and cheese using equipment many home kitchens already have. The waffles are best served warm and crisp, but leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in a toaster oven or oven to restore texture. The base recipe is flexible, allowing small additions like different cheeses or seasonings without changing the overall method.
