Notes
Coca Cola Cake is a sheet-style chocolate cake made with cola baked directly into the batter and finished with a warm cocoa glaze. The cake itself combines flour, sugar, cocoa powder, butter, buttermilk, eggs, and Coca-Cola, creating a thin, tender crumb that bakes evenly in a large pan. Once baked, the cake is topped with a poured glaze made from more cola, butter, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and vanilla.
This recipe works well because the cola adds moisture and a subtle depth of flavor that supports the cocoa without tasting overly sweet. Heating the butter, cola, and cocoa together helps dissolve everything smoothly before mixing into the dry ingredients. Pouring the glaze over the cake while it’s still warm allows it to spread easily and soak slightly into the surface, creating a cohesive finish rather than a separate frosting layer.
This cake fits well into everyday home baking since it’s made in one pan and serves a crowd. It stores well covered at room temperature or refrigerated for longer keeping. The texture stays soft, and the glaze helps prevent the cake from drying out.
