Notes

Fireball Cupcakes are made by baking a simple yellow cake mix cupcake and topping it with a cinnamon-spiked frosting flavored with Fireball whisky. The cake batter includes oil, eggs, cinnamon, and a portion of the whisky, while the frosting is a buttercream-style mixture made with butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, salt, and additional Fireball Cinnamon Whisky. Red and yellow food coloring is gently mixed into the frosting to create a flame-like appearance.

The recipe works because the boxed cake mix provides a consistent base that holds up well to added liquid and spice. Cinnamon reinforces the flavor from the whisky without overpowering the cake. In the frosting, beating the butter and sugar thoroughly creates a light texture, and adding the coloring at the end keeps the streaked look visible rather than fully blended.

This recipe is practical for home baking since it relies on familiar ingredients and clear steps. The cupcakes can be baked ahead and frosted closer to serving. Once frosted, they store best covered at room temperature for a short time or refrigerated longer. The decorating style can be simplified if needed, while keeping the same frosting and cake structure.
