Notes
Bloomin’ Apples are a baked apple dessert made by cutting whole apples into a fan shape, filling the centers with caramel, and baking until tender. Each apple is brushed with a simple mixture of melted butter, cinnamon, and sugars, which melts into the fruit as it cooks. The result is a warm, soft apple with caramel tucked inside and lightly spiced juices pooling in the baking dish.
The recipe works well because the cuts allow heat to reach the center of the apple while keeping the fruit intact. Scooping out the core creates space for the caramel squares, which soften and melt as the apples bake. Brushing the butter and sugar mixture over the top helps the edges caramelize slightly while keeping the apple flesh moist. Baking until just tender prevents the apples from collapsing.
This dessert fits easily into everyday home cooking since it uses basic ingredients and minimal prep. It can be made in the oven or air fryer, depending on convenience. Bloomin’ Apples are best served warm, straight from cooking, and are commonly paired with Breyers vanilla ice cream and extra caramel. Leftovers can be reheated gently, though the apples will soften further as they sit.
